Pakistan Plans Missile Test Near Karachi

After the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, Pakistan has announced a surface-to-surface missile test. The test will happen on April 24–25 along the Karachi coast in Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Indian defence agencies are on high alert and are closely tracking the situation.

India Responds with Strong Diplomatic Action

India has reacted with major diplomatic and security steps:

  • Suspended the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 until Pakistan stops supporting terrorism.
  • Cancelled SAARC visa exemptions for Pakistani citizens.
  • Shut down the Attari Integrated Checkpost for Pakistan.
  • Expelled Pakistani defence, naval, and air advisors from New Delhi. They must leave within a week.
  • Cancelled Special Permission to Enter SAARC (SPES) visas for Pakistanis, giving them 48 hours to leave.
  • Pulled back Indian military advisors from Islamabad.

The decisions were made during a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Pahalgam Attack: A Planned Act of Terror

On April 22, militants from The Resistance Front (TRF) attacked tourists in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley, killing and injuring many.
Officials say the attack was designed to disrupt elections in Jammu and Kashmir and had support from terror groups across the border.
