Equity benchmark Sensex and Nifty opened on a positive note on Friday amid a positive trend in global markets and sustained foreign fund inflow.
The 30-share BSE index was trading 65.90 points or 0.13 percent higher at 52,764.90 in initial deals. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty advanced 32 points or 0.20 percent to 15,822.45.
Tata Steel was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising over 3 percent, followed by Maruti, HCL Tech, ICICI Bank, Maruti, Axis Bank, and SBI.
On the other hand, Reliance Industries, HUL, Asian Paints, Kotak Bank, and Nestle India were among the laggards.
In the previous session, the 30-share index Sensex ended 392.92 points or 0.75 percent higher at 52,699. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty surged 103.50 points or 0.66 percent to 15,790.45.
Foreign institutional investors were net buyers in the capital market as they purchased shares worth Rs 2,890.94 crore on Thursday, as per provisional exchange data.
